Happy New Year update 2023

Happy New Year! I haven’t updated in a while and bit has happened since my EP release in August. I wanted to share updates, upcoming projects, and hopes:

  1. I’ve released a few new tunes with Little Symphony Records. The first release was La Tempesta which was written in collaboration with other label artist Deborah Offenhauser for the collaboration album Project X. The second release was a small Holiday EP titled In the Bleak Midwinter, which consists of 3 advent tunes that are near and dear to my heart. You can find all this in my discography section, or simply look for me on streaming services!
  2. I am working on quite a few new pieces, some of which are more serious “concert works” as well as a new full length album! Current official collaborations involve a new solo viola work for Michael Hall, a new vibraphone piece for Daniel Lewis, a new piano piece for Shi-An Costello, a new song cycle for my wife Suzanne Hannau, a bass flute duet for Suzanne Hannau and Emma Hospelhorn, and a new piece for saxophone quartet and piano with ~Nois. I am also hoping to write my first string quartet this year! The new piano album based on the season of Summer will hopefully drop In August, keep a look out!
  3. I have a new event on my events page: Trevor Watkin will be performing my piece for flute and piano We Watched the Leaves in the Wind as part of his “Drag it Through the Garden” concert event happening on January 30, 2023 at 6 pm. Click here for more details.
  4. Kyle Flens (percussion) and I have started a new duo project called the Flannau Duo and will be doing a concert at Constellation on May 21, 2023, premiering new works by composers and performing some of our favorites!
  5. I am headed to Athens, GA in March to double bill a show with Brandon Quarles at Hendershot’s, keep an eye out, more on that coming soon!
  6. I just updated my shop, and the sheet music for Reminiscence vol. 1 is officially out for sale, go check it out!

There is a lot more in the works, but I haven’t posted in a while and wanted to update the site a bit. Thank you all for your support and looking forward to bringing new music to you this year.
