Program Notes:
This piece serves as an exploration into the concept of timbre, and how rhythmic elements can create relationships with sounds that may not be considered “similar” in color. It is a rhythmically challenging piece that will require some serious chamber skills from the players. Expanding over three parts, this piece ends with a toy piano solo reminiscent of the first movement from John Cage’s Suite for Toy Piano.
